JUPITER Exascale Supercomputer, lead customer
October 5, 2023
The first European exascale supercomputer will be fueled by Rhea1, the energy-efficient HPC-dedicated microprocessor.
From climate modelling to drug discovery, high-performance computing (HPC) enables scientists and engineers to tackle the most demanding computational challenges on a large scale.
SiPearl CPUs are specifically designed for these workloads: they combine a high number of cores, high-bandwidth memory and an energy-efficient architecture to maintain maximum throughput in massively parallel applications.
They will power the two first European exascale supercomputers belonging to EuroHPC JU: Rhea1 will be integrated into the JUPITER machine based in Germany and Rhea2 will be part of Alice Recoque in France.

→ Rhea1 includes 80 Arm Neoverse V1 cores with 4 stacks of HBM memory for sustained performance on memory-bound workloads.
→ Energy-efficient architecture that reduces total cost of ownership at exascale.
→ Designed in Europe, supporting strategic compute sovereignty for research institutions.
